Pool Facility Update by Michelle Nelson

Thank you to all residents for helping keep our pool a safe/clean/undamaged place to enjoy.  Since the letter was sent out about pool vandalism, there has been a tremendous decrease in the number of incidents at the pool facility.  We would like to thank the residents/parents for this and really appreciate your help.  Please continue to remind your children of the rules and ask that they follow them.  At our last quarterly HOA meeting in June, the issue of pool security was a major topic.  The overall reaction from the homeowners in attendance was that we want to react, but not overreact.  As a result we have installed security lights (which are on a timer as well as a motion detector) and changed the pool closing hours to 09:00PM instead of 10:00PM.  We have ordered new signs that will reflect the new time change.

One new problem that we have had this summer pertains to swim lessons.  While it is within the rules to have a non-Weatherstone swim instructor provide a lesson to a resident's child, we ask that you follow the general rules listed below for the consideration and safety of others in our community:

  1. An adult Weatherstone resident must accompany the child at all times.
  2. The adult Weatherstone resident is responsible for letting the instructor in prior to the lesson and out following the lesson.
  3. Only one lesson may take place at any time.
  4. Lessons can be for a maximum of two (2) children at a time.
  5. Children who are not residents may not have a lesson at any time in the Weatherstone Pool (insurance prohibits this).
  6. No instructor may have a key in their possession at any time.
  7. Instructors must leave the pool immediately following the lesson.
  8. The gate may NOT be propped open at any time.
  9. Lessons must NOT interfere with regular pool activity (the shallow end is for general residents primarily, instructors/students secondarily).
  10. Any household violating these rules will lose pool privileges indefinitely and may be subject to a fine.
  11. All general pool rules (posted) must be followed.

Next season, all residents wishing to have a private swimming lesson in the pool will be required to fill out a form complying with these rules and submit it to the management company, who will then approve the lesson.  This is to ensure that lessons do not interfere with routine pool activity and that instructors are not allowed to teach multiple lessons back-to-back. We appreciate your compliance with these new guidelines.  Please feel free to contact our management company with any questions or attend our next HOA meeting in September.

The pool will close for the season on Sunday, September 12th at 09:00PM - the weekend following Labor Day.

Update from the Treasurer by Kevin McAllister

Enclosed with this newsletter are the financial statements for the period ending July 31, 2004.

During the second quarter, the financial activity increased, as you would expect for all of our outdoor activities and grounds maintenance.  Our monthly reserve transfer is going as planned and our cash reserves are increasing as well.  As of June 30, 2004, our year-to-date actual demonstrates the board’s focus to stay on track with its expenses.  In addition, you will notice we are currently under budget for the year.

Homeowners Dues

Since the last newsletter in May our delinquent homeowner dues have improved slightly.  For those who are delinquent, the board has instructed our management company to take whatever appropriate measures are needed to collect on all accounts.  If you are unsure of your account status at this time, please feel free to contact CMS (our management company) at 720-377-0100.

Please feel free to contact me at (303) 573-8492 x190 or kevin@weatherstone.us with any questions or concerns.

Events Update by Jean Fraser

The following lists some of the upcoming events for the neighborhood.  Please check the Weatherstone Website (http://weatherstone.us) for complete up-to-date information.

·        An Adult Pool Party will be held on Friday, August 27th from 06:00PM – 10:00PM at the Weatherstone Pool.  There will be a DJ, food, games, and prizes.  We will also have special prizes for the Best Beach Attire!  Neighbors are asked to BYOB and a dish to pass to this Hawaiian themed party.  If your last name begins with A-M bring an appetizer; N-Z bring a dessert.  Rain date is Saturday, August 28th.  The party is for Adults only and the pool will be closed during the party.

·        The Annual Weatherstone Fall Carnival will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 01:00PM – 04:00PM.  The cost will be $10.00/family in advance and $12.00/family at the door.  Neighbors will be asked to donate food or drinks.  Please let your Block Captain know if you can volunteer at the Carnival.  Each street is asked to provide a game.  We plan to have a bouncy, a clown, cotton candy machine, and face painting.

·        Christmas Lights / Garland Decorating.   We will need one neighbor from each street to help decorate the two entrances to Weatherstone on Saturday, November 13th from 08:00AM – 11:00AM.  Please contact your block captain if you can help.

·        Neighborhood Luminarias / Christmas Caroling.  In December, luminarias and Christmas caroling will be organized.

4th Annual Weatherstone Golf Tournament – by Jeff Schuster

Well, it is that time of year again … time to dust off the golf clubs and demonstrate your golfing prowess to your Weatherstone neighbors.  This year we will be playing a four-person scramble.  The tournament will be held at Lone Tree Golf Club on the east side of Highlands Ranch.  The 18-hole tournament will begin at 02:00PM and the 9-hole tournament will begin at 04:30PM.  Both tournaments will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004.  Dinner will be served at the Lone Tree Golf Club dining facilities around 08:00PM or whenever all players have finished.  If you are interested in playing, please E-mail Jeff Schuster at golf@weatherstone.us.  Please include the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Desired tournament: 9-hole or 18-hole
  3. Team grouping if you want to play with certain people
  4. Average score or USGA handicap

Once we have a list of confirmed players, we will be able to send out final tee times for the tournament along with details on the cost.  The cost of entry will be $110 per player.
