January 2004 – The Taylor Family
This quarter’s Weatherstone Community Focus features the
Taylor family. Warren, Tina, and their children have lived in Weatherstone
since October 2000.
Warren
was raised in Arvada, Colorado. He attended Brigham Young University (BYU)
in Utah where he met Tina. He then went on to the Pacific University College
of Optometry. Tina was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and received a degree
in Home Economics from BYU. Warren and Tina met while attending BYU. They
were married in Salt Lake City in 1979. Before moving to Weatherstone, the
Taylors lived in the Columbine area. “We were attracted to Weatherstone
because of the open areas, wide roadways and bike paths”, said Tina and
Warren.
Warren and Tina have five children, Clark, Spencer, Grant,
Elyse, and Preston.
Their oldest child, Clark, is a junior at Utah State
University, majoring in horticulture. He plans to attend Colorado State
University soon. Clark likes mountain biking, golfing, and landscaping. He
is also fluent in Spanish.
Spencer is a sophomore majoring in Business at Metro State
College. He spent two years in Venezuela and speaks fluent Spanish. Spencer
enjoys playing basketball and works in private franchising.
Grant,
age 20, is currently on a mission for his church in Eugene, Oregon. He
enjoys basketball, dancing, and cars.
Elyse
(pronounced “e – lease”) is a senior at ThunderRidge High School (TRHS). Her
favorite subjects are art, graphic design, and video production. After
graduation she wants to major in Interior Design. Elyse’s extracurricular
activities include basketball, volleyball, and plays on the varsity tennis
team at THRS. This fall she was the Homecoming Queen for TRHS.
Preston is the youngest Taylor. He is a sophomore at TRHS
and is in the Junior ROTC club. He plays the violin and string bass in the
school orchestra. Preston likes fencing, Frisbee, chess, art and computer
games. He plans to attend a military academy someday.
Tina enjoys reading and interior design. She also works
extensively in genealogy.
Warren works as an optometrist in Littleton. He is an avid
basketball player and enjoys golf, woodworking, and reading.
The Taylors love living in Weatherstone because their
neighbors are very friendly. Warren says, “All of the neighborhood social
gatherings, especially the ‘Countrybriar Block Party’, are a lot of fun. At
the last block party there was a fantastic chili cook-off and barbeque.”
They also like the recreational aspects of the area. “We use the recreation
centers often and enjoy using the new neighborhood pool.” states Tina. She
continues to say “Weatherstone is a very quite neighborhood and a great
place to raise a family.”
